Trump Mocking Teen Activist Greta Thunberg is Unforgivable

USA President Donald Trump used twitter to post a video of the 16-year old Climate Activist, cruelly mocking her speech to the UN Climate Council.

World leaders congregated in New York City on Monday to discuss the imminent effects of climate change and the United States was the only sitting member of the United Nations to skip the council.

President Trump opted instead to give a speech at another summit focusing on religious freedom, further dividing the country and thumbing his nose at the first Constitutional Amendment requiring a Separation of Church and State. Evangelists are Trumps biggest sect of voters and he has made religious conservatives the focus of his campaign. He has the dubious distinction of being the first President- and Mike Pence the first Vice President the following year- to speak at the Value Voters Summit; A convention of religious radicals who preach hellfire and brimstone threats to LGBT Americans, promote conversion therapy and distribute hateful propaganda.

In theme, that specific part of Trump’s base are staunch deniers of Science, including the effects of climate change. Since taking up his post in the White House, Trump and his administration have rolled back nearly all environmental pollution regulations on behalf of corporate and industrial lobbyists who prop up the re-election campaigns of the majority of Republicans. As a result of protections being removed, the green light has been given for chemical companies, once prohibited, to poison crops with chemicals proven to cause terminal illness and diseases, compromise protected water sources and destroy wildlife.

Trump himself has called climate change a hoax perpetuated by Democrats.

According to facts and indisputable scientific studies, climate change and the consequences of it are very, very real, regardless of how inconvenient it may be to the economy of industry. Most understand, at the most basic level, our future generations, their health and wellbeing- their very human right to inherit an Earth that does not inhibit their ability to thrive- should not be negotiable or altogether dismissed.

This is why the voices of Greta Thunberg as well as Autumn Peltier, a 13 year old clean water activist who also appealed to the UN council are vital to the dialog. They are the generation of tomorrow who will inevitably be responsible for enduring the results of politically motivated neglect imposed today.

That the upcoming generation would appeal to their elders is reasonable… responsible even.

That the US president would publicly and sarcastically diminish a child for making that appeal represents our own leadership at its lowest point yet in a seemingly bottomless pit of arrogance, corruption and entitlement of the ruling class.

Global leaders owe the young, brave youth daring to speak out more than a sarcastic tweet. It is not inappropriate, nor should it be a reach to expect better than this, even from Trump- or his personal pubic relations and spin machine Fox News- who broadcast a guest commentator, Michael Knowles, referring to Thunberg as “Mentally Ill.” Fox News Host Laura Ingraham called her “Chilling” and then ran a clip from the Stephen King film “Children of the Corn” mocking Thunberg’s modest appearance. Adults bullying children on cable television. Be Best.

As a nation, further disgraced by the appalling conduct of a man holding the highest seat, it shouldn’t be as joyous as it was to see the teenager, clearly demonstrating more intelligence than the President has, issued a tremendous retort to his childish antics. Thunberg changed her twitter bio to read:
