Outrage as Stores asked to remove LGBT People from Holiday Ads

“Well that's no more shopping at Asda for me!” Exclaimed an outraged twitter user.

Asda, a UK superstore chain similar to Walmart, released a spectacular holiday promotional called “SLAY IT!” which features a new line of clothing from the brand label George.

Celebrating the opulence of Ballroom culture, the advertisement appears to feature a transgender woman- or possibly non-binary individual who stands in the doorway of a club appearing reticent to enter. Within moments, the central figure whips off their coat revealing a shimmering gold sequined blouse and skirt. They are soon joined by other partygoers decked out in George’s Christmas line of sparkling holiday fashions. It was an innocuous ad, making no reference to gender or sexuality… but that didn’t stop the outrage machine from going on the attack as users have inundated the official GeorgeatAsda account with hate, mockery of trans women and even threats to boycott.
