Iconic actress Jamie Lee Curtis might be the most beloved Scream Queen of all time despite tremendously successful forays into action (True Lies), comedy (A Fish Called Wanda), and romance (My Girl), but now she’s been bestowed the title of Mother of All Trans People by the internet.
Last year, the star of the upcoming adaptation of the groundbreaking game Borderlands, did a rare interview where she spoke candidly about her family, and mentioned, without incident, that her adult child, Ruby, is transgender. She beamed with pride as she frankly discussed their journey together and expressed her unwavering love and support.
The Mom and Daughter duo sat down with People magazine for an intimate interview that was both honest and powerful, opening up about the emotional moment Ruby revealed her truth to her famous parents- her Father is legendary writer and actor, Christopher Guest.
“It was scary. Just the sheer fact of telling them something about me they didn’t know,” Ruby told People Magazine last October, “It was intimidating — but I wasn’t worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life.”
Now 25, Ruby has led a very private life, intentionally, far away from the Hollywood Spotlight that her parents have spent decades in. However, both felt that the visibility of trans people with their loving families was vital to progress.
