“GO WOKE GO BROKE, SELLOUTS!”

That was just one of the 3,000 comments left on the status update by Legendary band Pink Floyd in celebration of their 50 year anniversary.

Bizarrely enough, the prism has been a part of the band’s brand since their 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon.

The artwork for the album cover featuring a refracting prism has easily become one of the most recognizable images in music history. Designed exclusively by Hipgnosis and George Hardie for the band’s eighth studio album and is an abstract illustration that “features a beam of white light, representing unity, passing through a prism, which represents society. The refracted beam of coloured light symbolises unity diffracted, leaving an absence of unity.”

In March, the bestselling album will turn 50 years old, and to celebrate, the band incorporated their most recognizable album cover into the number 50 to celebrate the milestone… and bigots absolutely lost their minds.

On Pink Floyd’s official Facebook page the backlash was instantaneous, with fans, many claiming to be over the age…
