Gender Critical Hospital Patient Stirs Transphobic Hate After Mistaking Cis Woman as Trans

A woman in the UK launched a transphobic firestorm on twitter after misidentifying a fellow patient on a female ward as a transgender woman- She was not.
A health crisis can be a terrifying moment in a person’s life. Not only does one lose the sense of control, but the vulnerability and uncertainty can become overwhelming. Fortunately, even during these tumultuous times, doctors and nurses around the globe have met the moment with an inspiring determination to provide care as the world reels from the effects of an ongoing pandemic.
One patient, a woman who uses the twitter handle @Gillyism and proclaims herself to be a proud gender critical- a person who believes transgender people do not deserve to self identify or occupy spaces according to their gender- wound up in a British hospital after falling ill earlier this week.
After being admitted to the hospital, the woman explained to her twitter followers that she was placed on an “All female (Sex-based) ward” to receive care for her ailments. Unfortunately, things quickly went awry when she believed she heard a visitor refer to a nearby patient, on the same ward, as “Albert.”

The social media user was so irate that she was allegedly sharing a ward with a sick trans person that she confessed to her followers during a dialog that quickly went viral that she considered leaving the hospital entirely, despite her health condition.
In no time, the sick woman found herself given tremendous support and further visibility from others who also subscribe to the gender critical movement that seeks to ostracize transgender people from society, including anti-trans activists and aggressive campaigners who leapt at the opportunity to vilify an innocent transgender person and weaponize Gill’s frantic experience to push a political agenda.
Not to be distracted by her failing health, the woman, from her hospital bed, explained that she should not share a ward with a transgender woman- who she refers to as “He” and “Him” in her missives, because she…
