Florida Orders All Trans Youth To De-Transition Immediately

In the wake of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signing the “Don’t Say Gay” bill into law, the Florida Department of Health issued guidelines today informing all medical care-givers to cease all treatment of transgender young people in order to begin their medical de-transition process.

The official memo, issued yesterday, provides guidance that bans all forms of gender expression that fails to conform to an individual’s birth assigned sex, including discouraging or disallowing trans youth from socially presenting as their gender, and the usage of altered names or pronouns that do not reflect their body design. This also impacts non-binary teens from all other pronouns existing outside the He/She binary.

Although the new state guidance on trans issues was provided to the networks of physicians, it is not yet legally enforceable despite its request that physicians and medical clinics treating transgender young people adhere to it.
