Families of Trans Kids Reeling As States Begin ‘A Moral Purge’

Juanita Garcia, whose 14 year old daughter recently started the process of transitioning shared via an interview, “This is barbaric and beyond cruel.”

She is referencing yet another extremist bill introduced by Republicans nationwide that lays the groundwork and leverages legislation to excise transgender kids, teens and their families from greater society.

Florida’s effort to scrub LGBTQ+ people from existence began with their sinister “Don’t Say Gay” bill that sets out to prohibit educators from discussing or acknowledging any type of person but cisgender, and any type of relationship or parents but heterosexual ones in schools. Congressman Joe Harding (R-FL) also proposed an amendment that would have required educators to forcibly out students they believe are gay, lesbian or transgender to their parents, regardless of the dangerous ramifications. Harding, a devout supporter of the former President Donald Trump whose leadership saw LGBTQ+ people firmly in conservative crosshairs, withdrew his amendment at the last moment after international pushback, but the core bill passed with profound Republican support on February 24th.
