EXPERTS: America Feeling Tremors of Civil War

Pandora’s Box has been opened.

It was just 46 years ago that former President Richard Nixon was forcibly removed from office for the revelations provided by the Watergate Investigation. During that tumultuous time, through hearings and the release of classified documents, members of our Government body recognized that we had elected a criminal- a man who abused his power and compromised the trust of the public. Both Democrats, and eventually Republicans alike joined in the calls for the disgraced leader to resign, each party, at the time, unwilling to lose the confidence of the public they served or desecrate the highest office in the nation by allowing it to be occupied by a morally bankrupt con-man.

This was when the greater body of political figures has respect for America and what it represents. Politicians during that era weren’t celebrities, you know the ones- always seeking an open mic, spotlight, talk show or cameo on a reality series to extoll their virtues in order to pump up their popularity at the polls. They didn’t appear on the cover of Vogue, or attend galas at The Met during Fashion Week. Different things mattered then, back when politicians knew how to work together with the common goal of improving the quality of life for all Americans while preserving the integrity of law and precedent.
