DC Cinematic Universe In Crisis

The ultimate goal for the Warner Bros. controlled franchise of comic book properties was to mirror the phenomenal success of Marvel.

It has failed to leverage the potential of the 97 year old DC brand, with more catastrophic misfires than box office success. While the beleaguered studio, headed up by Walter Hamada, can boast a few successful outings, such as the Christopher Nolan entries into the Batman franchise, as well as the recent The Batman, the disorganization and chaos behind the scenes leaves the stories untethered and often in conflict with the universe they’ve attempted to create for die-hard DC fans.

It’s hard to fail with comic book adaptations, which is why studios- and the entire industry- have been feeding off them for over a decade now, harnessing the power of a multi-generational, embedded fan base already familiar with the central figures. Unfortunately, neither executives as Warner Bros. or DC under the disruptive guidance of Hamada have been able to find consistency or momentum, instead seeing to throw everything at the wall hoping something will stick. That method has worked for some titles like Wonder Woman, but failed fantastically with others like Shazam! and Suicide Squad.

But it was the Justice League that was meant to become the jewel in the crown of the DC cinematic Universe, and instead of taking its place…
