Actress Mya Taylor Announces ‘Tangerine’ Series from A24

Sean Baker’s smash hit Tangerine took the world by storm in 2015. The hilarious and touching film centered on the lives of two best friends who are sex workers in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve as they embark on the journey of self discovery and finding true love.

The film was adored by both critics and audiences alike for its original story and the impeccable acting from stars Mya Taylor as Alexandra and Kiki Anastasia Rodriguez as Sin-dee. It also put indie director Sean Baker on the map, who has gone on to receive tremendous Oscar buzz this year for his latest feature, Red Rocket, starring 90’s MTV VJ Simon Rex. Tangerine earned Taylor an Indie Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress and a Gotham Award for Breakthrough Actress, making her the first transgender woman to take home the honor.

In the years since Tangerine’s whopping success and her decorated performance, Taylor has only appeared in small roles in one studio film, Stage Mother (2019), and one televised series, the since cancelled Dietland, which aired on AMC in 2018.
