Along with millions of other minority classes hanging off the end of their sword 4 years later, I have no interest in making friends.

During his victory speech, President Elect Joe Biden asked the deeply divided American Public to “Give each other a chance.” For many of us, that’s not just a steep request… it is an insult to our dignity.

While the concept of unity in a post Trump era sounds poetic on paper, the chasm created by his base in one too wide to bridge easily. Minorities, especially Muslims that they have demonized, LGBTQ people they have threatened and persecuted, women they have endangered, Mexicans they called rapists, black people who were used as pawns to stoke fear and incite radical acts of violent racism for four years have no obligation to extend an olive branch to our proud attackers that have responded to Trump’s frequent, relentless dog whistles and required us to invest valuable time and energy fending them off with a stick. …

The US President upped his efforts to sew tension, peddle conspiracies and dismantle democracy after losing the election to President Elect Joe Biden.

With 75 days left in the Highest office, the damage that he can do would be irreversible. Donald Trump, who was formally impeached in 2019, has been one of the most polarizing figures in United States history and has used much of his term to relentlessly attack America’s most valued institutions, none moreso than faith in US elections, despite defeating Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The proverbial elephant in the room that has held the Nation in a perpetual and ever-tightening grip for four years has not been openly discussed by Government officials, many who whisper about it in shadowy corners but are, themselves, serving within a swelling body of fear of- not just the President’s retaliation- but the ire of a fervently loyal base growing more radicalized by the day. It is this base that he directly appeals to when taking to his personal podium, Twitter, to attack his opposition- or any anyone with an unfavorable opinion of him- branding legitimate news agencies with the audacity to report facts as “Fake News” while exalting deeply biased, far right-wing blogs and conspiracy websites ran by his personal allies. Trump’s leverage and unnerving influence over his acolytes has resulted in bombs being sent to his critics in Senate, Congress and news agencies. Armed militias that have pledged loyalty to him responded to his now infamous tweets, urging followers to “Liberate Michigan,” “Liberate Wisconsin” and “Liberate Virginia”- states with Democrat Governors- showed up at Federal buildings armed with AK-47’s and AR-15’s after being asked to wear masks to curb the spread of Global pandemic.

It’s been 4 years of absolute turmoil for the Transgender community.

President Elect Joe Biden took to the podium in Delaware after a long an arduous election to accept victory in the US Presidential election, narrowly defeating incumbent Donald Trump. The Trump administration has launch a four years long war against LGBTQ Americans, with Transgender people finding ourselves directly in the crosshairs of his administration. …

They’ve been telling us for years what their plans were… and they’re deeply unsettling.

Last June, I wrote an article for Medium outlining the agenda published by the GOP that laid marriage equality in their crosshairs. A key part of their platform from 2016- and doubled down upon for their 2020 platform- was to revisit the landmark Marriage Equality ruling, overturn it, and send it back to the individual states to vote on as a simple ballot issue. …

Just Five years ago, most Americans proudly proclaimed “That will never happen here.” Then it did.

Exactly what “That” is could be any number of heinous, rather remarkable assaults on our once firm belief in our inherent goodness, our faith in our policies and practices, our certainty that we were and would always remain the envy of all other nations. We trusted in our institutions, in their legitimacy and functions and embraced our power to influence the balance during an election and- even when the results didn’t favor our world views- respected the results.

Who we were as a country is not who we are today. …

A lot of experts have weighed in on whether or not Donald Trump will be a two term president of the United States with most of them, including Allan Lichtman, who has correctly predicted the out come of every Presidential election since 1984, saying he will suffer a monumental loss to former Vice President Joe Biden.

In a typical, rather straight forward Democracy, this would likely be the case, but many of these experts have failed to consider how a Nation once considered the jewel in the crown of Democracy is now mired in tribal politics, deep corruption, tremendous civil unrest, unaddressed voter inequality and a crippling pandemic. …

Shaler Township, located just outside Pittsburgh, found itself home to a Back The Blue Rally on Sunday, July 26th designed to confront a Black Live Matter protest that was happening simultaneously in the small suburb.

Those who arrived to support the Back The Blue Rally were donned in Trump gear, waving American flags and occasionally chanted “Trump 2020” and “All Lives Matter” as they attempted to drown out the Black Lives Matter activists.

In rural and suburban neighborhoods across the swath of middle America that are more firmly conservative, efforts to organize and host Black Lives Matter demonstrations against increasingly deadly police brutality levied against the black community have been met with bigger swells of opposition against the movement. In the small town of Bedford, Michigan, Black Lives Matter protesters marched down a street toward the munitions shop of a local politician who had made multiple racist posts on social media. Upon reaching their destination, they came face to face with a larger crowd of white people, many clothed in Pro-Trump hats and T-shirts, perched on rooftops and armed with assault rifles as they endured a frenzy of racist slurs and death threats. …

How is this going to save my life?” Damany Iqwe said to a group of people who had started a fire in the street alongside the park across from Portland Justice Center. “How is lighting fires and spraying graffiti going to save a Black man’s life?

Over the past 62 days, Protesters have gathered outside Portland, Oregon’s Justice Center where inside, police and federal agents wait. For the most part, throughout the daylight hours until midnight, it is a peaceful protest with little intervention by the police or federal agents that have been dispatched by the president of the USA, Donald Trump, to “Restore law and order.” We have seen Union members, groups of organized Mothers and Fathers make appearances to rebuke the presence of Federal Agent presence in their city. …

On July 8th, The Gothamist ran a story about New York City’s Abolition Park, an occupation by Black Lives Matter protesters of a plaza next to City Hall. The article highlighted a homeless transgender woman named Nikki who had taken up residence with the activists. She declined to share her last name with the reporter in fear of retaliation by more than just anti-protest activists, but as a trans woman, she new that she also risked being targeted by anti transgender extremists.

In the article, the 18 year old said to Gwynne Hogan of WNYC of life at the Park since the occupation…

While many Americans have become deeply involved in the increasingly hostile tribal politics that have been borne from Trumpism, transgender Americans have been quietly pushed even further to the fringes of society.

Between religious freedom being prioritized over human rights and the weaponizing of legislation to rob Transgender people of their access to basic healthcare, access to public spaces including homeless shelters, publicly banned from the military and dubbed a “burden and disruption” by the US President Donald Trump as well as the spike in homicides disproportionately affecting the community of Black Trans women specifically, Trans people in the United States experience conditions similarly to those in Mexico and Brazil. …
